What….it’s been almost a year?!

So yes, I seems to have these types of posts…a lot. But I am back again and I hope this time there will be some¬†constancy. Within the past year we have had a lot happen: my daughter turned one, I got a great job, and we just bought a house. Plus I am still in my graduate program. Basically I had no time for anything but breathing, and sometimes that was questionable! Since it has been a while, I wanted to just do a quick list of what I have been reading, playing, and watching in the past year.

Books Read:

  • Doomsday Book by Connie Willis (5 Stars!)
  • Dawn by Octavia Butler (4 Stars!)
  • The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (4 Stars!)
  • Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins (4 Stars!)
  • Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins (2 Stars ūüė¶ ¬†)

Currently Reading Books:

  • The Stand by Stephen King (Audiobook)
  • Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James (Kindle)

Games Played/Playing:

  • Civ 5 (Yes I still play this because it is amazing!)
  • WoW
  • Star Wars Online
  • Mass Effect 3
  • Alice in Wonderland 2
  • Rock Band 3

Workout Videos:

  • No More Trouble Zones by Jillian Michaels
  • Banish Fat Boost¬†Metabolism¬†by Jillian Michaels
  • Kickboxing Max by Jillian Michaels
What I am most looking forward to:
  • Diablo 3…..oh heck yeah 3 am!!!!
  • Prometheus…..Alien¬†prequel? I THINK SO!
  • Reading the Harry Potter series

So it¬†doesn’t¬†seem like I have done that much right?! Well I have not, at least in the way of working out, reading, and gaming. In fact I have mostly been having fun playing with the baby. She is so wonderful and I am so blessed to have her. At 15 1/2 months now, she is running, jumping, singing, dancing, and talking up a storm. However, I am not able to spend every moment of everyday with her like I once was since I am now working a full time job (that I actually love!). But because of this job, we have been able to buy our first home so I know that even though I cannot be a stay-at-home mom, I am still doing the best for my daughter.

I have plans to discuss all of these books and continue to talk about ones that I am reading currently.

Oh and don’t Google….I will know if you Google!

So I Got a Kindle…

After debating for months, my mother bought me a Kindle as a Christmas gift, though an early Christmas gift that I got last month when the new Kindles were released. I have to say that I am in love! At first I was apprehensive about the idea of the Kindle. I love reading, but losing the feeling of holding a book in my hands was worrisome. But now I have the ability to read anywhere without having to shove a big book in my purse. Plus, I like being able to get a book in 30 seconds and this is especially nice since I used to order most of my books off Amazon and I hated having to wait for them to arrive in the mail before I could read them. The price of the ebooks is great as well. I have found many books that are free or having sales that I can get cheaper than buying a paperback book used. Even without the sales, I still finding that the max I am spending is 10$ a book. Not too shabby!

I have been spending may weekends and evenings laying around and reading the great books that I have downloaded. They ability to change the print to a comfortable size is nice and the lightweight feel lets me be comfortable when reading.

There are some books that I was not able to find for the Kindle, and that was kind of a disappointment. However, you are able to click one button on and send a request to the publisher to get these books available. I am interested to see if the ones that I picked will ever become ebooks. Another thing I wish that I could see on the Kindle is more blogs. They have a lot, but they are usually not the blogs that I am interested in. I think it would be great if we could get our Google Readers on the Kindle and let us pick the more personal blogs that we enjoy.

Overall, I am glad I received the Kindle. I am going to keep reading books on it and am planning to write a few book reviews of the ones I have finished so far.
